EPA's Proposed Solid Waste Rule In Today's Federal Register - Input from all members requested
NORA has confirmed that the proposed rule for the "Identification of Non-Hazardous Materials That Are Solid Waste" was published in today's Federal Register.
NORA is requesting that all members review the document carefully and provide their initial comments to NORA by June 11th by emailing sparker@noranews.org
NORA members should read the entire document. The "Proposed Approach" related to used oil starts on page 31864. The "Alternative Approach" related to used oil starts on page 31885.
The deadline for comments is listed as July 19th. However, NORA has learned that EPA will likely extend the comment period on this proposed rulemaking from 45 to 60 days. That means that NORA will have until August 3rd to develop a position and file comments.
Also, EPA is planning a public hearing in DC on June 21st regarding the proposed rules.
At this point, NORA requests that members read this document carefully and provide initial comments to us by Friday, June 11th. Thank you. Your input is important.
